Proudest Moment

Many people have proudest moments. I have a few of them. Most of them are recent and the ones I want to tell people about. A few of them are getting accepted into Sussex Technical High School, completing the 8th grade wit a 90% average the whole year, and being able to finish my year of National Junior Honor Society.

First off, I was offered the opportunity to go to Sussex Tech at the beginning of my 8th grade year. I was thrilled when I found out! I had wanted to go to Tech since the middle of 7th grade. Everyone in my family was so happy for me, too. I filled out my papers, and a few moths later I found out that I was accepted. I nearly jumped for joy. That was a very recent memory that I will remember forever.

Another moment that I am very proud of is getting through my 8th grade year at Mariner Middle School with at least a 90% average the whole year. I haven’t yet failed a grade, never gotten an F on my report card, or gotten below an 85% average; but this is my last year of middle school and I’m proud to announce that I kept almost all As and kept a 90% average.

My last moment would definitely have to be this past Wednesday when I successfully finished my year of National Junior Honor Society in 8th grade. I was inducted to another year of being an Honor student going into 9th grade. I was very nerves standing behind the podium giving my speech like the rest of my honors class, but I succeeded in this obstacle and made it to another year.

My family and friends are happy for me in all of my school related accomplishments, and hope I do as well in the years to come. I hope for this as well as they do. I hope to do well in Tech and I will surely try my very hardest to achieve my goals. So again, everybody has proudest moment. Those were a few of mine. Although there’s more to be added to the list, I am happy with the ones I have already.

Love To Swim?

Swimming is great for the body! I love swimming myself. I won a swimming match once when I was younger. There were three of my friends and me at the YMCA, competing in a tournament of 8 weeks. We were about 10 years old. We had traveled around Delaware challenging swimmers from every different school and town. We were four of the best in the challenge! We had one more challenge ahead of us and it would determine the winner. So we raced. It seemed like the seconds went by so slow, but it really raced past us in a whirl of water splashing in our faces! We were almost finished and Kelly, the opposing team member, was neck in neck with me. We finished just about the same time. It was like one of those moments where they photograph the horse races; I was a hair ahead! I was so happy when I saw the photograph of her and me! I got a small trophy and $25.00 for my effort.

Don’t you think it would be a good idea for teenagers to understand the meaning of trying your hardest to achieve your goals? I found out that you can’t just depend on everyone else to give you what you want when I won the competition. I learned that it feels good to achieve your winnings yourself. I think that if students could swim in the pool on a team or just for anytime needs, it could teach them a lesson.

I feel that the pool and the field would be a good resource for students to interact with each other and have something to do after school. The district can afford to maintain the pool costs. And the field doesn’t need as much maintenance as the pool. We just have to cut the grass and make the lines according to where the different games are going to be on the field. So I promote the idea of a new pool and extra field in Cape Henlopen High School. I think it’s a very good idea.
