Love To Swim?

Swimming is great for the body! I love swimming myself. I won a swimming match once when I was younger. There were three of my friends and me at the YMCA, competing in a tournament of 8 weeks. We were about 10 years old. We had traveled around Delaware challenging swimmers from every different school and town. We were four of the best in the challenge! We had one more challenge ahead of us and it would determine the winner. So we raced. It seemed like the seconds went by so slow, but it really raced past us in a whirl of water splashing in our faces! We were almost finished and Kelly, the opposing team member, was neck in neck with me. We finished just about the same time. It was like one of those moments where they photograph the horse races; I was a hair ahead! I was so happy when I saw the photograph of her and me! I got a small trophy and $25.00 for my effort.

Don’t you think it would be a good idea for teenagers to understand the meaning of trying your hardest to achieve your goals? I found out that you can’t just depend on everyone else to give you what you want when I won the competition. I learned that it feels good to achieve your winnings yourself. I think that if students could swim in the pool on a team or just for anytime needs, it could teach them a lesson.

I feel that the pool and the field would be a good resource for students to interact with each other and have something to do after school. The district can afford to maintain the pool costs. And the field doesn’t need as much maintenance as the pool. We just have to cut the grass and make the lines according to where the different games are going to be on the field. So I promote the idea of a new pool and extra field in Cape Henlopen High School. I think it’s a very good idea.
